Birds of Prey
Bald eagles are black, white, and yellow. They are a part of a group called, “birds of prey.”
Ospreys have white bellies. Ospreys are “birds of prey” too. This means they hunt from the air.
Hawks are a brown color. These birds of prey hunt fish and animals on land.
And owls are brownish too. They are also birds of prey and mostly hunt at night.
Falcons are often grey, and they are the fastest of the birds of prey.
All of these birds are incredible hunters and many small animals are afraid of them. Birds of prey are all predators.
Many birds of prey have big nests that far away from other animals.
They are all excellent hunters. Hunting is how these birds survive.
Their eyes are all very good, so they can see prey from far away.
All birds of prey have sharp claws to hunt with.
They all can fly very fast, too. This is another reason these birds are so dangerous.
Many birds of prey eat fish and their claws are big enough to catch them.
Other birds of prey eat small animals like rabbits.
And some birds of prey eat squirrels.
